{"id":1176,"date":"2013-01-30T11:54:39","date_gmt":"2013-01-30T11:54:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/andyparkes.co.uk\/blog\/index.php\/2013\/01\/30\/retro-computer-museumhelp-please\/"},"modified":"2013-01-30T11:54:39","modified_gmt":"2013-01-30T11:54:39","slug":"retro-computer-museumhelp-please","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/andyparkes.co.uk\/blog\/index.php\/2013\/01\/30\/retro-computer-museumhelp-please\/","title":{"rendered":"Retro Computer Museum&ndash;Help please!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I first came across the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.retrocomputermuseum.co.uk\">Retro Computer Museum<\/a> in 2010 when I saw the guys who run it give a presentation at the <a href=\"https:\/\/andyparkes.co.uk\/blog\/index.php\/2010\/06\/23\/vintage-computer-festival-at-bletchley-park\/\">Vintage Computer Festival<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/andyparkes.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/image6.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 7px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"image\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/andyparkes.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/image_thumb6.png\" width=\"508\" height=\"322\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Back then they didn\u2019t have a permanent \u201chome\u201d and could only hold a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tubblog.co.uk\/blog\/2010\/11\/05\/retro-computer-museum-gaming-day\/\">few open days per year in the village hall in Coalville<\/a>. I can sympathise on this front. My own collection consumes much more space in my home than Mrs P would like! <\/p>\n<p>They have managed to find a much bigger venue in Leicester but as is always the case  with these things their costs have now gone up dramatically. So they are looking for help to help them move to the next level and provide an even better service. <\/p>\n<p>The new venue is much larger and it\u2019s location will make it much more accessible for visiting and will enable them to offer a wider range of services moving forward. <\/p>\n<p>RCM is what I can only describe as a living museum. The computers and systems they have don\u2019t sit locked away in cabinets.
