This week marks 10 years since IBIT Solutions was first registered as a business.<\/p>\n
I very rarely use the company name here. It\u2019s usually referred to as \u201cwork\u201d<\/em><\/strong> or \u201cthe business\u201d<\/em><\/strong>. That\u2019s mainly because this is my personal blog. While the things I do at IBIT are a big influence on some of the content I create (when I create it!) I always intended to keep them separate. <\/p>\n 10 years ago, along with my business partner Kevin we had the bright idea of giving up our jobs and going it alone. <\/p>\n When I look back it was a rather bonkers decision at the time. <\/p>\n Bryony and I hadn\u2019t long moved into our first house (with our first mortgage!) and Bryony was pregnant with Alice so of course I was going to leave my stable job and risk starting a business.<\/p>\n What was I thinking! <\/p>\n 10 years on I\u2019m glad to say it was the right decision.<\/p>\n It hasn\u2019t all been plain sailing. We\u2019ve had scary moments, have made plenty of mistakes and have lots of stress to deal with but there is a lot of satisfaction in being the master of your own destiny. <\/p>\n The good moment have certainly outweighed the bad though and being on this ride for the last ten years has taken me lots of places I couldn\u2019t have imagined 10 years ago. <\/p>\n I\u2019ve also met lots amazing people who I would never have come into contact with if I\u2019d played it safe and stayed in my old job and I\u2019m grateful to everyone who has had an influence on IBIT in that time. <\/p>\n Like a lot of small businesses we\u2019re not perfect. I\u2019ve got a ton of things I need to change, fix, improve or build but we\u2019re going in the right direction. <\/p>\n I\u2019m very lucky to be in position where I enjoy going into the office.
