Quick and easy one.<\/p>\n

I was trying to install the Trend Micro Worry Free Business Advanced client on a PC and I got the following message<\/p>\n

Unable to Remove Incompatible Software<\/p>\n

Installation unsuccessful. The installer could not uninstall AVG 2012 x64 automatically<\/p>\n

Manually uninstall this product and retry.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\"Trend<\/a><\/p>\n

Now a message like this isn\u2019t massively uncommon. If you already have an anti-virus product the Trend installer will try to remove it. If it\u2019s unsuccessful that\u2019s the message you\u2019ll see<\/p>\n

However, I\u2019d already removed the existing anti-virus which in this case had been Avast (who own AVG?). So something must have been left behind after that.<\/p>\n

AVG do have a removal tool on their utilities page<\/a>. Unfortunately this didn\u2019t do make any difference<\/p>\n

Luckily the fix was pretty easy<\/p>\n

* The usual \u201cI\u2019m not responsible for breaking your registry\u201d warnings apply here *<\/strong><\/p>\n

Open Regedit<\/p>\n

Locate the following key<\/p>\n

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Uninstall\\AVG <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Delete it<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That\u2019s it.
\nOnce I\u2019d done that the program installed fine.<\/p>\n

This will highly likely work for other programs. Just be sure said program is definitely removed before you do it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
