While i’m not trying to make this a series of posts (first one here!) Tuesday night was my second Amitpro / Midlands SBS Group meeting and since i’m still pretty new to it all i thought i’d post about my experiences (thats sort of the point of having a blog right?!)
The guest speaker at the event was Gareth Brown, one of the SBSC PALS for the UK, director of Sytec, respected contributer to the community in the UK and all round nice guy
Gareth was there to talk about “solution selling” (with a focus on SPLA) and basically explain how his business makes money! I came away with pages of notes and ideas in mind that will take me until the next meeting to digest
Gareth is billed to speak at the SBSC pre-event sessions at some of the upcoming “Techincal Roadshow for Channel” events (as is Vijay) so if your planning on going make sure you pay attention!
After meeting Gareth twice now i’ve learnt a valuable lesson.
Lurking online isn’t enough. You have to be there in person if you want to know about the community.
Why do i say this? Have a look for Gareth’s blog, his facebook profile or however else you degine your “online identity”. You wont find it!
It’s getting out there and meeting people is where it counts.
It took Gareth three hours to get there and he didn’t get home until midnight. That’s commitment to your fellow professionals!
I do suggest you read Vijay’s post as it sums it up far better than i can at this late hour!
All in all i throughly enjoyed it again (it was even better that i didn’t have to travel a couple of hundred miles this time!) and i’m looking forward to making my own contribution where i can

I witnessed gareth at the london technical roadshow yesterday night!
Breathtaking…
The guy really knows to present some ideas in a clear manner, and left some cogs spinning in my head about new ideas.
Can’t wait until the next one now!
