Stop Being A Smart Ass

As way of apology i thought i’d link to Matt McSpirit’s blog

Why the appology?

I left a comment on his post “SCVMM – the worlds longest acronym?” saying that SCVMM isn’t actually an acronym

RAM, RAID (pun not intentional), ROM and BIOS are all examples of acronyms as they form a new noun

Random Access Memory = RAM

BBC, HDD, IDE and SCVMM are initialisms

It’s one of the obsessive things that gets on my nerves as the computing industry always reffers to them as acronyms

So just wanted to let him know i’m lightly pulling his leg 😉

I’m going to add you to the blogroll as well!

Also i’ll probably get corrected by the might of a hundred english teachers now…..and i probably deserve it!

Look! Sources and everything!
